What is the difference between a chiropractic physician and a medical physician?

Simply put, both professions require extensive years of studying and training through accredited colleges followed by licensing by the state board in which they wish to practice in. It is the approach to patient care that separates each profession. The Chiroprator physician will utilize more of a holistic approach in the treatment of patients, rather than the administration of prescription drugs as in the case of the Medical physician.

Should I use ice or heat after an injury or incident of trauma?

Providing that the injury is not life threatening, injuries such as strains or sprains should always be iced during the first 72 hours following an injury. Ice is very effective in reducing swelling and inflammation. Heat can be used to increase mobility, however, always ice afterwards and never more that 20 minuets at a time.

I have always heard, once you go to a chiropractor, you'll always have to go. Is this true?

This belief came from the fact that Chiropractors often schedule their patients for multiple office visits. These visits can be scheduled on a weekly or monthly basis. Depending on the patient's condition. this is a practice of all Chiropractors as it can take multiple visits to correct incorrect alignment of the spine that has existed for years. Remember, Chiropractors would prefer their patients adhere to a preventative type care plan, which usually requires the patient to schedule an appointment once a month. This assures proper spinal alignment and can prevent exacerbations (flare ups) from recurring.

Why are chiropractors considered quacks?

This term was directed towards the Chiropractic profession via the Medical profession years ago as Medical doctors felt the scope of the Chiropractic doctor was too vast and treated too many aliments above and beyond neck and lower back pain. Chiropractors are widely accepted throughout the world for their success in the treatment of neuro-musculo-skeletal conditions (neck and back pain). However, many people aren't aware that most Chiropractors have had much success in their practice in the treatment of other aliments, such as asthma, ear infections, stress, colon problems, anxiety, headaches, sinus conditions, etc.
